AGC of California Expands Advocacy and Communications Teams

SACRAMENTO— The Associated General Contractors of California (AGC) is strengthening its voice in the construction industry under a new strategic plan that bolsters additions to its advocacy and communications teams. AGC’s newest team members, Robert Dugan and Christine Mahon, will help the organization expand its outreach, engage new audiences and advocate policies that promote opportunities for our members and industry stakeholders.

 “I am delighted to welcome both Robert and Christine to the executive team as we look to move into the next century of operations," said chief executive officer Peter Tateishi. “The diversity of skill sets in the growing AGC team will allow our organization to advocate more effectively for policies that promote opportunities for business, economic growth, and job creation.” 

AGC of California new hires include: 

Robert Dugan joins AGC as Vice President, Advocacy & Public Affairs on July 2, 2018. As head of our Advocacy Team, Dugan will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the organization’s advocacy campaigns, public policy, and labor relations activities. He is well suited to further enhance relationships with partners and labor leaders to achieve business success. Dugan has over two decades representing organizations on a variety of interests including heavy civil construction, public infrastructure finance and utility and aggregate industries. For the past two years, he has been the senior vice president of public policy and economic development for the Sacramento Metro Chamber. Prior to that he worked as director of government and public affairs for Granite Construction for 8 years where he managed the company’s stakeholder development across the country, relationship building and community partnerships. Dugan received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento. 

Christine Mahon joins AGC as Associate Vice President, Communications & Marketing on June 25, 2018. Mahon is a seasoned PR and communications specialist bringing more than 10 years of experience strengthening brands through innovative outreach programs. She has represented VSP Global and various government agencies, managing communication strategies for advocacy, fundraising and charitable efforts. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Sacramento Public Relations Association and is also chair of the Metro EDGE Program. At AGC, Mahon will oversee the organization’s communications and marketing strategies, including internal communications, media relations, and brand management that reinforce the value of the organization’s advocacy efforts and services. Mahon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies from California State University, Sacramento.
