In 1971, at just 12 years old, Bob Cowan, President of Marina Landscape-- started a landscape endeavor with his older brother Richard – a small maintenance company called “Cowan Landscape Maintenance”. Over time, they developed their company into a thriving enterprise – and transitioned from focusing solely on maintenance accounts to becoming one of California’s largest independent Landscape Construction firms specializing in everything from Landscape Maintenance to Design-Build, Erosion Control and Landscape Construction.

Today, that company that two brothers started with a couple of lawn mowers to help support their parents and six siblings has grown to over 650 employees in five branches. From their 25-year maintenance partnership with the Anaheim Resorts District to the award-winning landscape construction of Petco Park in San Diego and Disney’s California Adventure – Marina has partnered with the majority of Public Entities, Engineering, and Building Contractors in the State.

Beyond all of Bob’s impressive professional achievements; he Bob Cowan, President of Marina Landscape has been an active member of AGC for many years. He has chaired the Specialty Contractors Council and Orange County Board and has participated in a number of AGC committees over the years.

Two years ago he asked to join the AGC Construction Education Foundation Board of Directors and he was heartedly approved. During his term on the Education Foundation Bob has been a strong voice for the foundation by donating through his business, sponsoring events and securing a $50,000 donation from the Construction Landscape Irrigation Council! He is passionate and committed to all of AGC’s construction workforce development efforts and his presence and voice at the CEF Board Meetings have made a huge impact on his fellow Board members and ultimately- the current successes of the AGC CEF.
